Grace Half Full… Round 2!

A few years ago, I started a food blog with the intention of creating a platform to share images and experiences while eating my way around the world… (You can read 2015 Grace’s vision for Grace Half Full below!)

Now, here I am, a few years older, and not much has changed! I still have the same gusto when it comes to describing the playful tartness of a key lime pie or the unbelievable way Jamon Iberico melts in your mouth. I definitely still over-order at restaurants. (Oops!) I’m still heartbreakingly torn between sweet and savory when ordering at brunch. And of course, I still thoroughly enjoy reading a good menu or cookbook like a novel, from cover to cover. I’m a little bit older, a little bit wiser (maybe?), but still just as hungry for the next bite, taste, and adventure.

This time around, my vision is… same same but different. I hope to share not only a taste of my plate, but of yours as well! It is a never-ending lesson when it comes to food and its magical ability to bring people together. I want to learn about the best meals your grandmother made whenever you went to visit. I want to learn what meal fills you up with joy on a cold rainy day. I want to learn the history of peanut butter. I want to learn how to make a damn croquembouche! Ultimately, I want to not only share my experiences, but learn how food fills you up (tummy and heart), and share that with the world. In this day and age, we don’t need to be seated at the same table for food to bring us together. I hope that with Grace Half Full, you always feel welcome… and that you are never too full for another bite.

Grace Half Full, May 14, 2015: The idea of starting a food blog has been dancing around in my head for a while now, but somehow I got stuck on trying to figure out what to call it. The struggle was real–I was ready to give up and just go with “Grace eats all the things” – which would have been accurate – but it just didn’t roll off the tongue the way I wanted it to. Grace After Meals was sure to be a winner, but like all other names that sparked my interest, it was already taken (S/O to GAM, it’s a really cool concept and worth checking out).  I knew I had to dig deep–why am I investing my time in this? Simply put, if there is one thing I am passionate about, it’s food. My social media accounts are constantly teeming with snapshot after snapshot of my meals, and friends often ask me how in the world I am capable of eating so much bomb food! The answer is easy:  There is always room in life for more great food! There is no greater feeling than seeing your food on its way, no greater smell than a batch of cookies fresh out of the oven, and no greater satisfaction than after sharing a delicious meal with the people you love. I hope to never be too full for the next bite, the next taste, or the next food adventure. I like to look at my plate (and my stomach) as half full, rather than half empty. Besides, there’s always room for dessert. Come with me as I share where and what I’m eating, what I’m up to between meals, and the successes and struggles that are sure to come.
